VISION

The beauty of responsible architecture based on local resources and indigenous wisdom has always fascinated me. The systems employed by ancient cultures are inherently sustainable and resilient as validated by centuries of hegemony.

In recent years, I have studied the concept of regenerative design that reframes the principle of environmental sustainability, driven by not only sustaining but also providing a positive impact on the natural surroundings.

Through my work, I aim to connect the ecological traditional knowledge and technology with regenerative contemporary design, engaging local communities in creating nature-based solutions that respond to the needs of society and strengthen their cultural identity, benefitting the world we live in.

Her most recent work includes the interior design development for the Hotel and Residences of Four Seasons Caye Chapel in Belize, and the concept design for two private residences in New York City, in collaboration with the design firms Meyer Davis and Aurelie Paradiso.

In Mexico, she collaborated with The Ritz-Carlton as a design consultant for their newest property in Mexico City; and directed the interior design development of Corazon Cabo, a luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas, in collaboration with Carlita Alexander and RACO. In her role, she evolved the design concept and worked with the in-house teams into implementing the design through the end of construction and installation.

Previously based in New York City, she worked as an architectural project manager in the interior design firm Meyer Davis for five years. Sofía led international high-end projects such as the Crown Hotel in Sydney, the Dream Hotel Group condominiums in Atlanta, and the signature restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton in Mexico City.

Passionate about bioclimatic architecture, Sofía has developed research theses based on energy-efficient techniques in vernacular construction and regenerative design that fostered her enthusiasm for the exploration of these vias, which are inherently present in her philosophy and manifested in her work.
